Game Booster 3: Software to Enhance Gaming Performance at the Touch of a Button

Sometimes, the gaming experience can be legitimately distorted by computer hiccups caused by background processes or problems with a game’s files structure. One solution that we’ve reviewed in the past is Game Booster, which has just received an update to its third incarnation.

Diagnosing issues with your computer can now be done through a diagnose report, which is generated in the software and presents a list of parameters and potential issues. Alternatively, if you’re not keen on finding issues yourself, it could be a handy file to present to someone with more advanced knowledge.

The rest of the new features are less complex. One important addition is the ability to detect Steam games and add them to Game Booster’s “GameBox” launcher. I tested this functionality, and while users will still need to log into Steam, it is otherwise surprisingly smooth.  With Steam games now easy to launch, Game Booster makes a more competent argument for itself as a game launcher than ever before.

There’s a wealth of other minor improvements, as well, including interface changes and bug fixes. As before, Game Booster 3 is available free from developer IObit. As I summarized in my full look at Game Booster 2, it’s the launcher functionality, not the performance improvement (though that is nice, as well), which is this program’s best feature.
