How to Save Game Replays in Company of Heroes Online (CoHO) and Watch Them Later

Did you know?  CoHO has replays!  And now you can view them with ease using the new CoHO Replay Launcher!

You can download the CoHO Replay Launcher from http://www.chalicegames.com/ReplayLauncher.exe

How does it work?  Simple!  It's a standalone application - just run it from anywhere and it should show you a list of all the replay files in your CoHO playback directory.  Double-click one of them to launch it.

If you would like to provide additional arguments with your replay, such as -window or -multiple_instances, simply type the arguments in the textfield before launching.  All arguments are completely optional.

You can even associate .rec files with it though Windows, which will allow you to launch replays by simply double-clicking them within Windows explorer.

By default, CoHO stores its replay files in as:
C:\Users\\Documents\My Games\Company of Heroes Online\playback\temp.rec

Between games, you can go rename temp.rec to something else to prevent it from being overwritten by your next game.  Alternatively, you can change the line:
  • PostGameBehavior = skippostgamestats
to
  • PostGameBehavior = showpostgamestats
in your RelicCoHO.module file in order to enable the post-game stats screen.  This screen, which shows up after each game, has a handy "Save Replay" button on it, which will make it a bit easier to manage your replay files.

TL;DR;

Now go forth and enjoy some replays!

The New Way to Find the Best Airfare Deals

If you’re like most bargain airfare seekers, chances are your flight shopping goes something like this:
1. Go to Kayak.com or Orbitz.com. Or Priceline.com, Hotwire.com, or Travelocity.com. Or all of the above.
2. Search for the lowest fares for your desired travel dates and destination.
3. Repeat.
Please. That is so 2001. Allow us to fly you into 2010 and beyond, with some new tricks for scoring airfare deals.
These days, websites alert you when particularly great deals become available out of your local airport to your desired destinations — not to mention the ones that actually predict what airfares will look like in the near future so you can adjust your travel plans accordingly. There are even services that enable you to get some cash back if prices fall after you’ve purchased your tickets.
Interested?
In the video above, WalletPop.com editor at large Jason Cochran walks you through the details, with specific advice on which websites to visit in order to get the best travel deals.
Instead of starting off your search at the sites we mentioned above, for example, Cochran’s advice is to sign up for the free email alerts from AirfareWatchdog.com and all airlines that fly out of your home airport: this way you’ll know when tickets go on sale and can even create your vacation’s itinerary around the most affordable airfare routes.
Next, swing by Bing Travel and Momondo.com: those websites try to predict airfares based on historical data.
Finally, these days your search for deals doesn’t end with the ticket purchase. If the price of your flight falls any time after that, you can get some of your money back thanks to new websites that alert you to those changes.
For more details, watch the video above, or on WalletPop.com.

Full Review

OnBux, another new "bux" site is here to help everyone make some money. Looks nice, but will it last? Or will it be just another 3 - 6 month old fling? OnBux feels very familiar, but do I dare say who?

Just so everyone knows...we do not have any evidence of it being related to any other site. All we have is speculations and a gut feeling. For now the site will be placed on the Ongoing Investigations List. For at least 6 months. Here are the pros and cons of OnBux:

PROS:

1. Forum - This site does have a forum. Forums are great for communication between members and staff. Members can post payment proofs, get support, and stay updated on changes made to the site. You can find their forum here: http://www.onbux.com/

2.  Direct Referrals - Current limits for standard members is at 80. Great for promoters and those who can earn referrals.

3. All Countries Accepted - So far there are no restrictions and all can join and earn from this site. Will update if this changes.

4. Instant Payments - A great option for any site to have. No more waiting days or weeks for something you rightfully earned.

5. SSL Secure - "Connection to website is encrypted to prevent eavesdropping." Verified by Equifax. A extra added security feature which is always nice to have.

6. Paying - Site is paying, however we do not recommend this site for investors.. See our cons section for more info. Here are our payment proofs from this site:

CONS:

1. New Site - We do not recommend investing or buying upgrades on new sites. For at least 6 months, if not a year. If you can't wait that long, at least test and get paid first before you decide to invest.

Some Things You Should Know About This Site

  •  You need $2 + 60 clicks in order to cashout. Minimum amount to cashout will increase by $1 till it reaches $10

  • If you cashout and you have invested or bought something from the site, you must use the same payment processor that you have used to invest with. More details on the cashout rules: http://www.onbux.com/calculator
  • Avg daily earnings without referrals $0.04

  • Site Launched: June 09, 2010

 Summary:

OnBux is another new site that has a ways to go before we will even consider it as being a legitimate site. It will remain on our ongoing investigation list for at least 6 months. Those of you who are inclined to invest into this site...be sure not to invest more than what you can afford to lose.

We will continue to monitor this site. If anyone would like to share their experience that they had with this site, whether it is good or bad, feel free to do so in our comment section at the end of this review.

Site Description
Neobux is a pay-per-click membership site run by an internet marketer name Rezk that pays members to click on advertiser links and visit their websites for a certain length of time. Advertisers buy clicks to their websites and program members earn a share of the revenue when they visit these websites. There is also a referral system in place so members can build downlines and earn from them.

Detailed Overview
The Neobux program is one of many of these types of programs on the internet today. The way you make money as a member of this site is very simple. You click on links, visit advertiser websites, stay on them for a certain period of time, and you earn money for it. You refer others to the program, and you earn money when they click on websites too.
The amount of money that you earn from Neobux by clicking on one advertiser link and visiting the site is not much. The pay that you do get depends on your level of membership. There is a free level and a golden level. At the free level, you make $.01 to view a site for a standard period of time, and $.015 for viewing a site for an extended period of time. How long the period of time is depends on what the advertiser pays for. At the golden level the pay for those are $.01 and $.02 respectively. Neobux Golden members also earn more for their referrals’ clicks than free members do. You can actually rent referrals each month from the site if you like, which could possibly increase your earnings.
The Neobux site can be a bit confusing at first. Content is very minimal, so you have to look around the site a bit to figure it all out. Once you join and can enter into your account area, it still looks pretty minimal, but eventually you find out where everything is.

Reputation
A lot of these types of programs get many complaints, but that doesn't seem to be the case with Neobux. Most reports are that the company does indeed pay, and they pay in a timely manner. Nobody is claiming to get a lot of money from it, but that’s not surprising. Ambitious members could conceivably make some extra spending money each month, which for some is a plus.

Domain "Whois"
The Whois information for a website lists the owner and their contact information. The Whois information for "Neobux" is public which is generally a good thing. This indicates the owner of this site has nothing to hide.

You Actually Can Earn Money by Taking Online Surveys

Earning money out of your home, online. Many people play with the idea, and some  even go after it. There are various ways to pursue it. One is to write, like I do, for websites or blogs. If you’ve got it in you, I recommend you to do it. We’ve written in the past about websites to earn money writing, check it out.
But not everyone’s got the feel for it. There are of course other ways. You can, in fact, earn money taking online surveys or company offers. That’s right, you can get paid for giving your opinion. Before I began to work at MakeUseOf, I worked this possibility for a time. A 16 year old boy, in Belgium, gathering some extra cash. This only begins to show how ‘open’ this all is. Your age and nationality matter little to none, the only thing you need is an internet connection and some time to spare.
Today I’d like to show you how to tackle this line of ‘work’. The various tips and tricks involving successfully engaging it, and the trustworthy places to go for your survey fix.

Step One – Get Real

1142448_thinking_about_money_2Before you start trying to earn money taking online surveys, there are a few things you’ll need to realize.
Do not expect to make money in truckloads. You (most probably) won’t get hundreds of dollars a week, thousands a month, whatever the ads try to tell you. True, when you participate in a multitude of high-roll surveys daily you can make a fair amount, but things don’t work out like that in real life.
Those high-roll surveys will be a sporadic surprise, rather than routine, and depending on how many company aims you hit or miss (do you handle the budget at home, or do you live off your parents? Are you a jock or a nerd?), the amount of surveys you receive can differ greatly. Also, when considering the hourly earnings – some surveys can take up a lot of time – you’re not exactly well-paid.
However, if you enlist for a reasonable number of survey services, you can certainly score some extra bucks. Best of all, you don’t need to be able to actually do things, just have an opinion – and everyone has one of those. Just keep in mind that this is a little extra money, instead of your new job.

Step Two – Get Ready

You want to be properly set up before you go. Besides cluttering your address with surveys, you’ll encounter some false – spamming – services if you go venturing on your own.
I highly suggest registering a new email address for the job, to keep pleasure and business apart, so to speak. Go with Gmail (a lightweight and easy interface is advised in days to come, it’ll also be needed to set up our filters) and pick an easy to remember name.

Filters

If you keep the different suppliers separated, it’ll be easier to see where the occasional crap is coming from. Don’t worry, you won’t need to register twenty-odd different addresses, Gmail helps us with that.
  1. If actual@gmail.com is your email address, use actual+service@gmail.com for the different services. (e.g. if I were to enlist myselft on GTM, I’d use the mail address simonspam+gtm@gmail.com). As Gmail completely ignores the addition mark and suffix, all emails will arrive in the same inbox, but we’ll be able to separate them by using filters.
  2. Creating the actual filter is a lot easier than you’d think. However, you’ll have to repeat the process below for every service. First, press the Create a Filter button at the top of the page.
    gmailfilter1
Next, enter the actual+service@gmail.com as the receiving address, and head to the next step.
    gmailfilter2
You can then choose how to manage this part of your mail. Choose for it to skip your inbox and be added to the service’s label. You’ll be able to access it in a separate folder at any given time, located on the left portion of your screen.
    gmailfilter3
If you ever receive spam on one of your pseudo-addresses, you can easily put a halt to all incoming traffic. Just edit the right filter, and select Delete it.

Step Three – Get Paid

1164836_coins_5The final and most simple step. Register on a multitude of (trustworthy) survey suppliers, and wait for the ‘work’ to come. You’ll quickly notice that different sites work different ways, with different systems and paygrades. Usually you’ll need to wait until you’ve reached a certain amount (ten to twenty dollars) until you can cash out – sometimes a wiring to your bank account, most often Paypal.
Below you’ll find three of the highest recommended sites, by us and other satisfied users over the internet. All are international.

1.  SurveySavvy

If you’re going for the bucks, you definitely need to enlist for SurveySavvy. Each survey gets assigned a dollar value, between 2 and 20 dollars. Even when you don’t fit any of that month’s surveys, you get automatically entered in the monthly sweepstakes, where they give away fifty 10 dollar prizes.

2.  American Consumer Opinion

Don’t be misguided by the name, they work worldwide. They pay between 4 and 25 dollars per survey, and also automatically enlist you for their monthly sweepstakes. Don’t pass on any surveys you receive.

3.  Harris Polls

One of the most respected survey sites out there – both by users and professionally. They award you relatively generous with Hlpoints, which you can redeem for gift cards, prizes, and sweepstakes. They work internationally and “are continuously investigating international laws regarding sweepstakes rules and eligibility”. More information on their questions page.

4+ Other Sites

You’ll want to enlist for as many survey suppliers as possible. Check out Online Paid Surveys for other websites. You can filter them on geographic availability and get more information out of the reviews.
This is where we round up this article. I hope you’ve learned something and will be able to put it to use. If you’ve got any other questions or comments, head straight to the comments section below.

Free Online File Backup Synchronization Services : A Quick Roundup

Dropbox

Dropbox is a storage application and service operated by Evenflow, Inc. The service enables users to store and sync files online and between computers. Dropbox has a cross-platform client (Windows, Mac and Linux) that enables users to drop any file into a Dropbox folder that is then synced to the web and the users' other computers with the Dropbox client. Files in the Dropbox folder may then be shared with other Dropbox users or accessed from the web. Users may also upload files manually through a web browser. A free Dropbox account offers 2 GB of storage. Users may upgrade to 50 GB or 100 GB by paying a monthly or yearly fee. The total amount of storage space of both the free and fee-based accounts may be increased by up to an extra 3 GB for free accounts and 6 GB for fee-based accounts by referring others to the service.

While Dropbox functions as a storage service, its focus is on synchronization and sharing. Dropbox synchronization uses SSL transfers with AES-256 encryption, and it supports revision history, so files deleted from the Dropbox folder may be recovered from any of the synced computers. Dropbox's version control also helps users know the history of a file they may be currently working on, enabling more than one person to edit and re-post files without complications of losing its previous form. There is no limit to file size for files added via the Dropbox application, but files transferred through the web interface are capped at 350 MB. Dropbox uses Amazon's S3 storage system to store the files.

The Dropbox service is similar to companies such as Box.net, Mozy, Wuala and Humyo. The company received seed funding from Y Combinator and Sequoia Capital.

Humyo

humyo.com is an online file storage service which synchronizes files across multiple computers and a remote data store. Files stored in humyo can be shared with other users and published on web pages. The company owns a former Bank of England bullion vault in which it houses the servers used to store its users data.
humyo.com was founded in 2007 by Dan Conlon (MD) and Peter Dubens (Chairman) and initially offered 30GB of storage space for free.
The company closed its beta in March 2008 with 100,000 users and by August 2008 had 215,000.
In October 2008, the company reduced the amount of storage space offered free of charge to new users to 10GB.

SpiderOak

SpiderOak is an online backup tool for Windows, Mac and Linux users to back up, share, sync, access and store their data using an off-site server. SpiderOak uses encrypted cloud storage and client-side encryption key creation, so even employees of SpiderOak cannot access users' information. SpiderOak distinguishes itself from competition in provision of encryption, in provision for syncing files and folders across multiple devices, and in automatic de-duplication of data.
SpiderOak offers two account types, a free 2 GB version and a SpiderOak Plus+ subscription. The paid plan starts at $10.00/month/100 GB increment.
