Split, merge, paginate, or even change the layout of a PDF with Hexonic PDF Split and Merge

Split, merge, paginate, or even change the layout of a PDF with Hexonic PDF Split and Merge: "

Hexonic PDF Split and Merge ScreenshotDo you ever need to split pages or sections of PDF documents, or merge several PDF files together into a single whole?

Hexonic PDF Split and Merge can do this for you, but it can also do a few more things that distinguish it from many of the free programs in this genre: e.g. adding page numbers, headers or footers, as well as changing the layout of your PDF such that it displays multiple pages on the same sheet.

This software is available free for personal, non commercial use.

Here’s what I like about this software:

  • Has a nice interface: intuitive and professional looking.
  • Split and merge: select the page ranges you want to use from each PDF document. Can also burst each page into its own PDF file.
  • Add pages numbers, headers/footers: also allows tweaking the margins for these.
  • Edit page layouts: i.e. 2 pages on a single sheet, 4 pages, or any other configuration. Similar to what you can get from Gimposition.
  • Preview function: displays your output before processing your documents, so you know exactly what you’re getting.
  • Command line operation: is supported.

CONS:

  • Will only let you specify a single range of pages to process: from each document. In other words, pages 4-10, rather than “2, 4-6, 8-9, 11” for example.
  • Not free for commercial use.

The verdict: this program may not have the largest set of features compared to some other similar programs out there, but I really like this one; specifically, I like the clean, professional interface as well as the mix of functions (pagination, layouts are a big plus).

One last note: if you like this software you might also want to check out PDFSam.
