Run Incompatible Games On Xfire With Xfire Game Customizer

Xfire is a popular application that gamers use to chat with friends, see what games they are playing, what servers they are playing on, creating a game screencast and joining gamer friends instantly with one click. Whether you are a new user or an Xfire fanatic, I’m sure you must have had the problem of being unable to play a few incompatible games using Xfire and might have wanted to get some customization features. Xfire Game Customizer is an open source application which is designed to make incompatible games work with Xfire and provides customization options to enhance Xfire, such as setting a custom status, editing game registry and much more.

Using Xfire Game Customizer is quite simple. Just click Auto Setup or use a .xge file to run incompatible games.

A new window will pop-up and display options to add the source file of an incompatible game. To enter a long name for recognition, select a game rendereder (e.g. Direct X 11), select a Xfire interface style (Basic or Extended) and configure other settings from the checkboxes given at the bottom. For instance, you can select window input, safe textures, specify if the game uses anti-key loggers and game guard. Click Save for your configurations to take effect and play your game using Xfire.

Select Game

You can use the available customization options from the rest of the available tabs. The Advanced tab allows editing game entries, adding hotkeys, importing, exporting and saving registry entries. Make sure that you are aware of the tweaking process which you may be performing to the Windows registry, since misconfigurations can cause undesirable effects.

Advanced

The Xfire Game Detection tab enables setting custom game detection, allows setting status by current game and window name, and can be used to create an ignore list for specific games. For now the Xfire Status Tab has been disabled by the developer as it was causing too much bandwidth usage on servers, lets hope it gets fixed soon as it meant to help users manage CPU usage which can be restricted or increased using the available slider.

Xfire Game Customizer works on Windows XP, Windows Vista and Windows 7.
