6 Websites That Will Bring You Back To The ’90s

6 Websites That Will Bring You Back To The ’90s:
Oh, man. I may have a biased opinion, being born in ’89, but were the ’90s not incredible? Nostalgia just drives me nuts and the ’90s felt like the peak of music, movies, gaming, and the blossoming of the Internet. Maybe that’s just reminiscing and wishing I was still a kid, but I know some of you agree with me, right? Vanilla Ice, Nickolodeon, Super Nintendo, pop music, less-corporate Internet; how could you not love that?
Luckily for us, things live forever in the age of the Internet. These memories are not all forgotten and they’re going to live on. Maybe this article is best read when you’re home alone on a late weekend night, bored with nothing else to do. Letting nostalgia pull at the strings of your heart can keep you amused for hours. Let me give you a hand.

In the 90s

In the 90s (which also has sections for the ’70s, ’80s, and more) is a website filled with user-submitted content dedicated to preserving the memories of music, movies, television, world events, fads or trends, and more.

The website even looks like it was made in the ’90s. It’s very simple and easy to navigate. They’ve got some really unique sections, like movie quotes, TV trivia, music from commercials, and more. This website is a time sink.

I’m Remembering!

I’m Remembering! is a Tumblr blog (maybe the best platform for retro content) of publicist and comedian Hillary Buckholtz. It features visuals from the ’80s and early ’90s.

If visuals are what get you going, good luck pulling yourself away from this website. Some of the content on here is very obscure and before my time, but it’s always incredibly interesting to check out retro pictures shared on this picture blog.

Mapstalgia

Mapstalgia isn’t very well-known, but the concept behind it is so unique and awesome that I’ve got to share it here. The idea behind the Mapstalgia blog is to publish user-drawn maps of video games, straight from memory.

This website got me to thinking about old NES and SNES games (which if you’ve read my other articles, you know I love). This site features submitted maps from the Zelda series, Donkey Kong, Rainbow Six, Super Mario Bros., Tomb Raider, and more.

Retro Junk

This site, much like In the 90s, has a very retro feel and look to it. It’s also very similar to In the 90s in the way that is indexes mostly user-submitted content and articles.

This is probably the most interesting nostalgia site I’ve stumbled across. Lots of content, lots of opinions, lots of videos and articles, and plenty of pictures if you’re a visual person.

Toonami Aftermath

This website is a complete godsend. This is the holy grail of retro Cartoon Network anime and cartoons.

There are too many things that make this website a great service to nostalgia. First of all, it’s completely free streaming of the best Toonami shows that ever existed. We’re talking Lupin, Ranma, Dragon Ball Z, Ronin Warriors, Thundercats, Cow and Chicken, Johnny Bravo, Gundam Wing, Sailor Moon, Spaceghost, and lots more.
It’s streamed live with a chat room so you can chat along with others who watch. Check out the schedule if you’re interested. Don’t be too shy to donate, either. This website deserves it.

Internet Archive: Wayback Machine

Above all else, nothing quite gets me like the nostalgia of late ’90s Internet.

The Wayback Machine is very simple. Type in a web address and (if popular enough to have been crawled by this amazing service) look at their cached versions of the website. You’d really be amazed at how some websites look when they first creeped onto the internet (such as MakeUseOf).

That’s my list for you, guys. Let me know how many hours you’ll invest in reminiscing in the comments. There’s nothing quite like nostalgia and I hope I’ve been able to spark a memory in at least a few of you. I think I’ll be on my way to Toonami Aftermath right now!
